Come February, my plan is to leave the country for a two plus month trip, splitting time in South Africa and Spain. I'm in the planning stages now, trying to orchestrate the 50 things I need to do to get ready.
1. Buy plane ticket
2. Find my passport
3. Quit my job/see about a leave of absence
4. Move out of my apartment
5. Take the GRE

I'll keep you guys in the loop and hope to talk with you soon.

Wow! I really want to do that too, but poor planning and starting my new job soon prevents me from doing so (or at least internally). I think I speak for us all when I hope you can live vicariously for us. What do you plan on doing besides just being in those two places? (as if that wasn't reason enough!)

Have a nice Christmas, Brendan!

Tickets purchsed today! First step done. I'll be traveling in South Africa for 3 weeks and I'll meet up with a friend of mine who is traveling there at the same time. Then it is onto Spain which will be my gateway to Europe. I'll have a month and a half there, including Easter week so it should be fun. I have to come up with things to do, so I may be making a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. I should also meet up with friends that are living in Spain and hang out with them for a bit. We'll see what I can come up with. I'll be in Spain while my sister is studying abroad, so I'll try to give her space. The country should be big enough for the both of us. More updates later...

Wow Brendan, that sounds awesome!

Hooray for getting your ticket.

I'm jealous of all you people who have travelled back to your study abroad sites....

Maybe someday.

You know you'll have to post while abroad so we can, as jack said, live vicariously.
