I am a Magnet for Weather Related Disasters

I don't know what it is about me, but wherever I go, strange weather follows. Here's what happened yesterday in Raleigh (besides the 'Canes losing what could have been an easy game 5)

Hello All!
Well, some of you may have heard by now that tropical storm alberto took a pass through North Carolina yesterday and wreaked major havoc. Raleigh was one of the major areas hit, with downtown getting almost 8 inches of rain. I'm fine, but there was flooding all of the place with roads getting completely blocked off and some even getting washed away in sections. Crabtree creek, a usually pretty small stream, crested at 23 feet yesterday and flooded the mall, a major intersetion near it, and many other places along it's course. WRAL, one of the local TV stations has a whole bunch of viewer submitted photos, to give you an idea of what all happened. That link is WRAL Slideshow 6/14/06

My favorites photos (at the time I'm looking at them) are: 84, 94, 99, 117, 142, 164, 179, 191, 192, 197, 198, 200, and 206. Some of them are roads that I drive all the time and the last one is a park I will pass every day on the drive to my new school. Scary!

So, whaddaya think?

June Plans

I'm looking ahead at this month of June and wanted to give you an update of what I am up to along with prompting more discussion as to all of your plans. This weekend, I am going with some friends to Tahoe for an REI sponsored trail clean-up. Camping in the Sierras should be quite fun and I am looking forward to meeting new people. Next weekend, its off to Yosemite for my cousin's bachelor party weekend. A round of golf, hiking and a nice dinner should make for an excellent time. The following week, my family and I are off to Santa Cruz for our friend's graduation from UC Santa Cruz. And finally the last weekend of June, UCSD Alumni are going to the foothills of Amador County for a wine tasting. In between these highlights, I'll be finding the perfect job to get me set on a great career path.

Let's hear what you guys are up to with some unique posts and a photo or two.
