I moved

To those remaining who don't know, I just moved to the Hillcrest area of San Diego. Got a nice 1br place of my own, and getting used to (too easily, in fact) living on my own. In fact, I look forward to going home every evening now, not that I wasn't before, but it seems to a greater degree now. The cover reason: to come home, kick back with a cold one, and argue with myself whether to watch TV or play Xbox. The real reason: to lie down and make carpet angels and play on my big 65" fitness ball.

Trip to San Diego

I'm looking to take a trip down to San Diego next weekend and I was wondering if any of you guys will be around.

John Oro is getting married! Crazy!

He and Marie will be tying the knot in October this year.

The Age of the Remix

I found this article from a link off of Slashdot. It's an article by the revered sci-fi author William Gibson in Wired magazine about regurgitation and recycling of ideas. It seems pretty abstract but he gets the point across clearly, I thought:

Our culture no longer bothers to use words like appropriation or borrowing to describe those very activities. Today's audience isn't listening at all - it's participating. Indeed, audience is as antique a term as record, the one archaically passive, the other archaically physical. The record, not the remix, is the anomaly today. The remix is the very nature of the digital.

Yay Independence. and I need some help

Hey All! Happy 4th of July!

I was wondering if you all could help me with something. So I'm a maid of honor in an upcoming wedding, and so I have to plan the bachelorette party we're having on Friday.

We want to have some tasks for the bride to do along the way, but nothing that is too horribly embarassing.... you know, nothing like find some guy and kiss him or lick the top of a bald man's head or anything like that, but just stuff like:

1. Ask If you can buy a guy a drink
2. Ask a guy to dance
3. Take a picture with a guy at the bar
4. Ask the bartender/ or guy to take a shot with you
5. Ask the bartender for one good tip for your marriage
6. order a sex on the beach or similarly "dirty" drink

Do you all have any other ideas?? 6 doesn't really seem like enough....
