Schoooool's out for the summer!

These are the 4 plants that I am trying to grow on my patio. For some reason, it has also become an experiment in survival tactics/genetics. Which plant do YOU predict will last the longest? I've even switched their locations on my partial sun/full shade patio to see if that makes a difference in their growth. By the way, there is one pot of Columbines, one of Johnny Jump-ups (Violas) and there are two different varieties of Impatiens. Let the guessing begin!

I'm sooo glad I found this picture...

...for it's one of my favorites and I thought that I only have the copy that's currently hung on my wall and that I'd need to go to the trouble of finding a scanner to digitize it, and by then the theme of the week would be lost, but, ho, I am saved. Brendan, you have come to the rescue again, by scanning this picture almost 6 years ago!

Usually for every bit of technical talent I have, I have twice as much admiration for the complete opposite: creative talent. I came across this interview (incidentally, while googling for "star wars screensavers"). Man does that guy look young. Check out his portfolio here.

This is where graduation was held. It is the hockey arena ( duh) and looked pretty much the same, except there was rain and not snow. Stephen King gave the commencement address, which I happened to really enjoy. Since my last attempt at a link didn't work, here it is again. Stephen King'speech.

Sea Ranch

I had a great three day weekend. I went up to Sea Ranch to celebrate my mom's birthday. Beautiful weather set the tone for a great retreat.

I spent the weekend enjoying great food, numerous walks to the beach, reading a good book, enjoying a sky full of stars, and working out in the yard. I left early on Sunday to coach a soccer game in Santa Rosa and then it was back to Sacramento in the evening. All in all, a good weekend.
