How come people in Florida and South Carolina think this is the way to build along the beach? And how come people in NY think this is the way to vacation at the beach?

Yay for Kristi responding! It's so sad to be so many timezones ahead of you all and posting in the morning when you have just gone to bed for the night. ...
There are still some beaches in California that aren't AS developed. I really don't like the high-rise look and I feel like even SD hotels are less gigantic and more low-to-the-ground, spread out,and park like. Maybe I'm just changing reality in my head though.
